Sunnyfield Lodge has 40 apartments, set within attractive maintained gardens. It offers the opportunity for independent living without loneliness and isolation.  The manager, Kate, is there to provide help and support if required. Sunnyfield Lodge is different from other sheltered housing in that it can provide extra support from a team of skilled and dedicated carers, led by Linda, based in Sunnyfield Lodge. Her team can offer individual care and support in your own flat.  There is an emergency communications system, so that a member of staff on site will respond and can be with you in minutes. The lounges on the ground floor, and the many social activities, mean that it is easy to find and enjoy friendship, sharing a cup of tea, watching tv, listening to music, or chatting. Each day most of the residents sit down together for an excellent lunch, cooked and served by helpful chefs and staff. There is a launderette on the ground floor.  A small shop provides food supplies on some days, and there is also a hair salon. There is a garden area, with a patio and chairs, sheltered from wind, to enjoy the sunshine and contact with nature.  Nearby, there are several public open spaces with tarmac paths – perfect for walking. Sunnyfield Lodge is in a quiet residential area close to the centre of Ripon, a pleasant half-mile walk to local shops, churches, restaurants, library, doctors. Buses run to Ripon from a bus-stop near Sunnyfield Lodge. There is a lift in the building, providing easy access to all floors for anyone with reduced mobility. A guest-room with en-suite facilities is available for your visitors who wish to stay overnight.
Fast reliable broadband is available in the flat if a subscription is paid to one of the internet service providers. Plusnet has recently been providing broadband and free phone calls for £20 per month. The only utility bills are for electricity, which has been about £180 per year for this flat in recent years. The council tax band is A, the lowest, and can be reduced by 25% for a single occupant.
Sunnyfield Lodge is run by Anchor Hanover, England’s largest not-for-profit provider of housing and care for people aged over-55. They retain a 25% share of the ownership of the flat but charge no rent. However, there is a monthly charge to cover the maintenance and facilities of Sunnyfield. This fee also covers the cost of the central heating and water.
